Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the organization's day-to-day accounting operations and lead the accounting team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient financial processes while managing Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), payroll, HST filings, month-end and year-end close activities, and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong leadership skills, extensive experience with QuickBooks Online Advanced (QBOA), and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and maintained in accordance with Canadian accounting standards.
- Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring timely collections, vendor payments, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Prepare and review weekly AR and AP reports for management.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, and supporting reports.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Prepare, review, and submit HST filings and ensure compliance with all applicable tax and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Administer and optimize QuickBooks Online Advanced (QBOA), including job costing, workflow management, and process improvements.
- Coordinate annual financial audits and prepare all required supporting documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and operational efficiencies.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and financial initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading or supervising an accounting team.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, payroll, HST filings, and month-end/year-end close.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online Advanced (QBOA).
- Experience with job costing and workflow management within QBOA.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience coordinating external audits and preparing financial statements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.

40 hours per week
