The Customer Service Representative acts as the primary liaison between customers and site operations, balancing customer requirements with operational needs. This role serves as the main point of contact for key customer groups, champions customer satisfaction, and ensures that contractual obligations, initiatives, and processes are consistently met. The position involves coordinating transportation and delivery activities, monitoring account performance, and supporting continuous improvement within a fast-paced logistics and transportation environment.
Responsibilities- Serve as the main interface between customers and site operational management, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Champion customer satisfaction by monitoring feedback, addressing concerns, and ensuring a high level of service.
- Administer customer contract requirements and ensure they are implemented accurately and consistently.
- Ensure customer initiatives, special processes, and data requests are fulfilled in a timely manner without disrupting daily work processes.
- Act as a key contact for customer groups, supporting the development and deployment of new or revised processes to meet customer goals.
- Ensure client and internal initiatives are deployed effectively and that all requirements are fulfilled as requested.
- Coordinate transportation and delivery of customer orders as required, working closely with logistics and transportation teams.
- Report on key account performance indicators (KPIs) and other support metrics for assigned accounts.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans when performance issues or service gaps are identified.
- Coordinate with operational managers to provide value-added services required by customers.
- Report department goals and metrics, and assist with setting and aligning individual goals with company, site, and customer objectives.
- Participate in on-site team meetings and account, site, and customer committee meetings to support collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all records and reports related to client activity are prepared accurately, submitted on time, and maintained effectively.
- Identify potential inventory discrepancies and work to resolve them promptly.
- Coordinate and perform physical inventory counts in accordance with client requirements, and investigate inventory variances.
- Track order and receiving accuracy on a daily basis to support operational integrity and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct random audits of weekly inbound shipments to verify that descriptions, quantities, and locations match warehouse management system (WMS) records.
- Collaborate with multiple internal departments, including sales, warehouse staff, drivers, and leadership, to support customer needs and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the site and customer accounts.
- 1–2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center or similar customer-facing environment.
- 1–3 years of experience in the logistics or transportation industry.
- Knowledge of transportation systems, such as truck mate or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment.
- Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels within the organization in support of customer relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
- Direct experience with third-party logistics operations.
- Experience in a logistics environment involving shipping and receiving of materials.
- Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or a related field.
- Experience using warehouse management software, such as AS2016 or comparable systems.
- Experience working with multiple departments, including sales, warehouse staff, drivers, and management.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to support value-added services and process improvements for customer accounts.
This role is based on-site in a logistics and transportation setting, working Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position operates in a fast-paced environment that supports shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities, with frequent interaction with warehouse staff, drivers, and other operational teams. The workplace emphasizes collaboration, team-building, and celebrating achievements while offering opportunities for growth, such as handling larger client accounts or progressing into logistics leadership roles. The environment is structured yet dynamic, with a focus on meeting customer expectations, maintaining accurate records, and supporting continuous improvement in a blue-collar logistics setting.
