Description of the company:

A residential interior design studio that handles projects at full scope, from early concept and space planning through custom millwork, furniture, and final installation. Every project is developed for the specific client and the specific home, and the detailing goes deep. It's a small, design-driven team where the Senior Designer works shoulder to shoulder with the principal rather than several layers down from them.

Why is this role open:

The studio is busy and growing, and most of the project oversight and mentoring currently sits with the owner and other Senior Designer. They want a Senior Designer who can carry projects on their own and take some of the junior team under their wing, so the studio can take on more work without losing the quality clients expect.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead residential projects start to finish, from concept and space planning through finishes, millwork, furniture, and installation
  • Develop material and finish palettes and write custom millwork specifications
  • Produce and review 3D renderings and presentation packages for client meetings
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and builders to keep projects on scope and on schedule
  • Manage vendors, ordering, procurement, and delivery logistics across active projects
  • Present concepts directly to clients and keep them looped in through every phase
  • Mentor the junior designers, review their work, and help them grow
  • Keep project documentation, schedules, and budgets current alongside the principal

Must-haves:

  • 5+ years of professional interior design experience, ideally residential
  • A portfolio showing range across space planning, materials, and detailing
  • Fluency in Revit
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, millwork drawings, and FF&E specification
  • Comfortable running a project on your own and owning the timeline and budget
  • Strong client-facing communication, and steady when a project gets tight
  • Diploma or degree in interior design

Nice-to-haves:

  • Rendering software experience (SketchUp, Enscape, V-Ray, or similar)
  • A network of trades and vendors in the area
  • Previous experience reviewing or guiding junior designers
  • ARIDO membership or NCIDQ certification

Work style: Full-time in office in Toronto, with some day-to-day flexibility

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000
