We are currently seeking a Civil Design Engineer-In-Training to join our Edmonton team. This position is well suited to a motivated individual looking to build practical experience in land development, municipal infrastructure, and transportation engineering. The role includes assisting with project design, preparing technical reports, supporting project managers with client and municipal coordination, and participating in site visits as needed. What You'll Do

You will support the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions across the Edmonton region while developing your technical, coordination, and project delivery skills. Key responsibilities include:

Technical Experience

  • Assist with coordinating land development projects from preliminary engineering through detailed design and construction, applying technical knowledge while gaining hands-on project delivery experience.
  • Support multi-phase municipal and land development projects by helping track schedules, budgets, deliverables, and municipal approval requirements.
  • Prepare engineering design drawings and design reports using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design tools under the guidance of senior technical staff.
  • Refine designs based on regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and alignment with client's objectives.
  • Assist with municipal water resources engineering, including stormwater management and water distribution systems. Familiarity with programs such as PCSWMM, Mike Urban, and WaterCAD is considered an asset.
  • Conduct site observations and administer contracts for construction projects in the Edmonton region.
  • Plan, organize, and design to best serve the needs of our clients.
  • Maintain strong communication with internal teams, contractors, and municipal representatives.

What You Bring

  • A degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution, with 24 years of civil engineering experience in municipal infrastructure and land development.
  • Eligibility for registration with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training.
  • Knowledge of municipal, water resources, transportation, and land development engineering design, including related infrastructure such as sanitary sewer, water distribution, roads, stormwater, and drainage systems.
  • Experience in construction and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with municipal approvals process in the City of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills, with a willingness to take initiative and grow into increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and build strong client relationships.
