Job Description
The Finance Change Management Consultant leads organizational change activities to support large-scale technology transformation initiatives within the financial services sector. This role focuses on ensuring employees are prepared, engaged, and supported throughout the change journey, particularly for finance and accounting-related systems and processes. The consultant develops and executes comprehensive change management strategies, builds training materials, and collaborates closely with project teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to drive successful adoption of new technology and process changes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute end-to-end change management strategies for technology implementations within the financial services sector.
- Design and deliver stakeholder engagement plans, communication plans, and training initiatives to support the adoption of new systems and processes.
- Conduct impact assessments and change readiness evaluations to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improved adoption.
- Monitor adoption and change metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of change activities and drive successful business outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, project teams, and end users to foster sponsorship, engagement, and stakeholder buy-in.
- Partner with Finance and business teams to understand operational impacts, business processes, and financial reporting requirements related to new technology implementations.
- Create, refine, and maintain training materials and user documentation to support end-user readiness and ongoing learning.
- Facilitate workshops, presentations, and change-related communications to prepare the organization for upcoming changes.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to leaders and stakeholders on change management best practices, methodologies, and tools.
- Collaborate with project management teams to integrate change management activities into overall project plans and timelines.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) activities by aligning communication and training with testing outcomes and feedback.
- Leverage data and reporting tools to track progress, identify issues, and inform decision-making throughout the change lifecycle.
- Significant experience in change management for technology implementations, preferably within the financial services or banking industry.
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with leaders, project teams, and end users.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Familiarity with accounting terminology and financial reporting processes.
- Proven experience in business process improvement and implementation projects.
- Hands-on experience in change management methodologies and frameworks, such as Prosci or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Experience working with or alongside project management functions and methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI.
- Ability to facilitate workshops, presentations, and change-related communications for diverse audiences.
- Capability to conduct impact assessments, change readiness evaluations, and adoption monitoring.
- Prosci or other formal change management designation.
- Professional accounting designation such as CPA or CA.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with SAP, particularly S/4 HANA general ledger, is considered an asset.
- Experience with Kyvos is an asset.
- Background in financial services or banking environments.
- Experience supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.
- Familiarity with enterprise reporting tools and business intelligence solutions.
- Exposure to large-scale technology transformation initiatives in finance or related functions.
This role operates within a collaborative project environment focused on finance and technology transformation. The consultant supports and works closely with a dedicated finance change management team and project stakeholders. The position follows a standard workweek of 37.5 hours, typically from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility in hours as needed to support project demands. The role is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days per week in the office at a downtown Toronto location, with the remaining time worked remotely. The environment involves regular interaction with finance, accounting, and technology teams, and frequent use of tools such as SAP (including S/4 HANA), Excel, Power BI, and other project and reporting tools. The setting is professional, office-based, and oriented toward structured project delivery and cross-functional collaboration.
