Coatings Engineer

Job SummaryThis position is responsible for managing and improving the coatings process and conducting research and tests to develop new coatings. Required Education and ExperienceUniversity degree in Chemical Engineering and/or 3 - 5 years of experience working in the e-coat/paint facilities Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)Excellent organizational and time management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAdvanced MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) knowledgeKnowledge in CAD: 3D Models, Drawings and GD&Ts an assetKnowledge of e-coat and powder coat process is an assetEssential FunctionsConsistently develop, assess and implement continuous improvement projects in relation to current or future project planning.Design, develop, and test new coatings systems and chemical titrationsConduct research into the development or improvement of coatings process Oversee all testing in relation to the e-coat and powder coat lineSupervise e-coat lab technicians Establish and conduct quality control programs, operating procedures and control strategies to ensure consistency and adherence to standards for raw materials, products and waste products or emissionsAssist in paint line qualificationEnsure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28)Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems, HR policies and Martinrea Employee HandbookMust work in accordance with H&S regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and proceduresThis job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities required for this job.
