The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company's finance function through the accurate and timely execution of key accounting processes, financial reporting, and general ledger management. Working closely with and reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will ensure the integrity of accounting records, assist with month-end and year-end reporting, and contribute to continuous process improvements while supporting operations across Canada and the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Prepare and record journal entries, manage and maintain the general ledger, and ensure financial records are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Support the preparation of internal financial reporting and analysis.
  • Support the monitoring and enhancement of internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and financial reporting requirements.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, provincial, and regional tax requirements.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audits by preparing schedules and coordinating requests from external auditors.
  • Participate in cash management activities through the review and validation of cash transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency through automation and standardization.

Projects, Process Improvements and Strategic Initiatives

  • Support the integration of acquisitions by assisting with accounting processes, reconciliations, and system implementations.
  • Participate in finance projects to improve reporting, processes, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to understand business activities, revenue streams, and cost drivers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff and assist with training as required.
  • Reporting to the Financial Controller this role will also interact with the Director of Financial Reporting and Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis on special projects and other initiatives as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with month-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative, continuous learning mindset, and commitment to professional development.
