The Casual Event Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food for banquets, weddings, conferences, and special events. This position works on an as-needed basis and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and event timelines.
  • Assist with food preparation before events, including portioning, chopping, and organizing ingredients.
  • Ensure all food is presented professionally and served at the appropriate temperature.
  • Work efficiently with the banquet and kitchen team to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Properly store food and label products following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down banquet kitchen stations.
  • Monitor food quality and report any shortages or equipment issues to the Chef.
  • Follow all health, safety, and workplace policies.
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, banquet, or catering environment preferred.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
