As an Automotive Technician, a typical day might include the following:

  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair to shop specifications

  • Review damage reports, prepare and review repair cost estimates and plan work to be performed

  • Diagnoses and effects repairs of transmissions, clutches, front/rear axles, differentials, brake systems, drive lines, etc

  • Diagnoses cause of malfunction, utilizing all available resources

  • Repair or replace mechanical units or components

  • Maintain records of maintenance performed, parts and supplies used

  • Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards

  • Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers

  • Coach and instruct apprentices

  • Follow warranty policies and procedures on all warranty work

  • Inspect repaired vehicles for proper completion of work, dimensional accuracy, and overall appearance of paint job

  • Inspect and test used vehicles and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made

  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology


This position might be right for you if:

  • Must have a valid Automotive Technician License

  • A valid G class license with a clean drivers abstract

  • Minimum 3 years of similar work experience within the Automotive Industry

  • Must be detail-oriented

  • Highly efficient and extremely organized

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be a team player

  • Excellent time management skills with attention to detail

  • High level of motivation, energy and strong customer service skills
