Our client, a family-run fire protection company based in Edmonton, is seeking a Piping Designer to join their team. Position Overview:

  • This position is ideal for a motivated designer with industry experience who is looking to develop expertise in industrial piping and fire protection systems. The successful candidate will support projects ranging from system design and facility upgrades to field engineering and commissioning support. You will work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and field teams to deliver practical engineering solutions for industrial and commercial clients across Western Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed piping designs for fire protection and industrial utility applications.
  • Produce piping drawings, including layouts, 3D isometric drawings, and equipment arrangement plans.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as line lists, valve schedules, material specifications, and piping specifications.
  • Assist engineers with the development and review of P&IDs, process diagrams, and piping schematics.
  • Ensure all designs meet applicable industry standards, including NFPA, ASME, CSA, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to complete design reviews, identify potential challenges, and support constructability assessments.

Must Have Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Piping Designer role.
  • Experience designing and supporting industrial or commercial piping systems.
  • Proficiency with CADWorx or similar industry-standard piping design software.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project teams, and field personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office-based and field environments.

Like To Have Qualifications:

  • GIT or EIT designation, or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
  • Knowledge of applicable piping and fire protection codes, standards, and industry requirements.
