Who we are looking for?
We are currently seeking a dynamic member to join our manufacturing shop floor team.
This role is part of the B.C. Youth in Manufacturing Initiative (BCYMI), delivered by the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC). The program supports short-term, paid work placements in B.C.'s manufacturing sector.
Successful candidates must be eligible to participate in BCYMI, including meeting all current program criteria (such as age and other requirements defined by the program) at the time of hire.
As part of the placement, participants will complete Manufacturing Foundations and Lean Fundamentals training through EMC.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Manual dexterity to perform routine packaging, labelling and assembly tasks.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently to meet production targets.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; able to manage time and meet production targets.
- An excellent work ethic and integrity.
- Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis with accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and understand a variety of written operating instructions (SOP's & Work Instructions) and to accurately complete daily forms or other documents as required by the Quality Management System.
- Ability to make general mathematical calculations.
- Availability to work overtime & weekends, as necessary.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing production facility (preferred).
- Proven experience in Manufacturing and/or experience within the Medical Device manufacturing industry is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates packaging and small assembly equipment
- Performs routine production of tips, packaging, labeling and assembly tasks
- Uses computer as a part of the daily work processes (as needed)
- Observes all safety procedures and precautions
