Our client is looking for an Estimator to prepare accurate project estimates by compiling and assessing data regarding materials, labor, and equipment. In this role, you will analyze project requirements to determine financial feasibility and ensure projects can be successfully completed within targeted cost structures.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Market Tracking: Monitor future construction activity across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Atlantic provinces through various regional construction associations to identify upcoming projects relevant to the organization.
  • Pipeline Management: Utilize CRM systems to log active quotes, track closing dates, and maintain accurate pipeline data.
  • Quantity Take-offs: Review construction documents and consult with clients to prepare detailed material quantity take-offs for commercial and industrial projects.
  • Estimate Formulation: Develop specialized estimating spreadsheets tailored to the specific trade work required, combining quantity take-offs into comprehensive cost estimates for services and equipment.
  • Proposal Delivery: Prepare and submit professional written quotations and proposals, providing either firm lump-sum pricing or budget estimates with unit rates based on contract structures.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to support a safe and healthy working environment.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Technical Expertise: A strong technical background, ideally as a Journeyman in Plumbing, with an advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of current plumbing and building regulations, alongside an awareness of market trends.
  • Organization & Drive: Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively build and maintain client and internal relationships.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle shifting priorities and evolving project demands.
  • Collaboration: A track record of driving initiatives to completion while working effectively both independently and within diverse, cross-functional teams.
Job Requirements:
  • Education & Experience: A post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction Management Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, combined with 5+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent mix of education and hands-on experience).
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive computer literacy with standard corporate software and specialized estimating applications.
  • Working Conditions: Ability to perform regular rotations to various job sites. Flexibility and availability outside of standard business hours are required to meet project demands.
