Job Details:
Role DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing mining and environmental consulting team supporting clients across Canada. This is a client-facing, technical role requiring 15–20 years of direct mining-sector geotechnical engineering experience.
This opportunity requires a dynamic individual with proven experience in mine tailings and waste rock management, including serving as (or developing toward serving as) an Engineer of Record (EoR) or Deputy EoR. The role includes dam inspections, engineering oversight, and supporting the growth of mining and environmental consulting services.
In this role, you will support project managers on tailings engineering, environmental investigations, remediation, and permitting projects while also leading technical delivery. You will oversee junior staff, coordinate resources, and collaborate closely with senior technical leaders. The successful candidate will be expected to act as or grow into an Engineer of Record for mine infrastructure projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to plan and deliver mine tailings and waste rock investigations, designs, and management solutions across a range of complex mining projects. This includes preparing technical reports and work plans, performing engineering evaluations of tailings facilities, waste rock storage areas, and water management structures (e.g., dams, dykes, and diversion systems), and coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies.
In this role, you will act as or develop toward serving as an Engineer of Record (EoR) or Deputy EoR, providing technical oversight and ensuring engineering integrity across projects. You will lead and contribute to geotechnical engineering reviews, oversee laboratory testing programs, and support the planning and execution of annual dam and site inspections in accordance with applicable industry standards and dam safety guidelines.
You will also provide technical leadership to project teams by defining project goals and constraints, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating input from internal and external stakeholders. Applying sound engineering judgment and a strong understanding of mine operations, you will develop practical, risk-informed solutions to address client challenges.
Additionally, you will contribute to client engagement and business development activities by supporting existing relationships, identifying opportunities for growth, and representing the organization professionally. This includes supporting permitting efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory and engineering standards throughout all project phases.
