OUR CLIENT:

We have partnered with one of Southwestern Ontario's premier General Contractors to add a Civil Foreman to their growing organization. This position is ideal for a hands-on construction leader who enjoys working alongside their crew while overseeing the safe and efficient execution of bridge construction and rehabilitation projects.

THE ROLE:

Working closely with the Site Superintendent, you will coordinate daily field operations, lead skilled trades and labour crews, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging infrastructure projects with a company that values leadership, teamwork, and professional growth.

RESPONISIBILITIES:

  • Lead and mentor a bridge construction crew while performing hands-on work as required..
  • Organize daily work plans, assign responsibilities, and communicate production goals to the crew.
  • Maintain a strong field presence by monitoring productivity, workmanship, and safe work practices.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by conducting daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and ensuring compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure crews have the materials, equipment, tools, and resources required to maintain productive workflows.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment, and subcontractor activities within assigned work areas.
  • Identify and resolve field issues that could impact productivity, quality, or project schedules.
  • Support short-term planning by identifying upcoming work, resource requirements, and potential constraints.
  • Verify work is completed according to project drawings, specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Oversee and participate in bridge construction activities including excavation, concrete formwork, reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, structural concrete, demolition, bridge rehabilitation, bearing and expansion joint installation, drainage works, and site restoration.
  • Maintain accurate daily field documentation, including production records, crew hours, equipment utilization, delivery records, and site photographs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction or bridge construction.
  • Proven ability to supervise daily operations while remaining actively involved in construction activities.
  • Strong understanding of bridge construction methods, bridge rehabilitation, reinforced concrete, formwork systems, structural components, excavation, and civil construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety with experience managing high-risk construction activities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience completing daily reports, production tracking, timekeeping, and field documentation.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Experience operating small construction tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites.
