About PRI

PRI is one of Canada's fastest-growing full-service consulting firms, driven by our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community. With a multidisciplinary team and offices across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, we deliver integrated solutions in engineering, environmental sciences, planning, and natural resource management.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil/Hydrotechnical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with hydrotechnical experience to join our Vancouver Hydrotechnical Engineering team. This permanent full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience across a diverse range of civil and hydrotechnical engineering projects, including floodplain and drainage assessments, stormwater management, hydraulic and hydrological modelling, municipal infrastructure, and residential land development.

Working under the supervision of senior engineers, the EIT will support technical design, fieldwork, drafting, and project coordination from conceptual planning through construction. This role provides strong professional growth opportunities within a collaborative, multidisciplinary consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the engineering design of hydrotechnical, municipal infrastructure, and civil land development projects.

Conduct and support hydrological and hydraulic analyses, floodplain assessments, and stormwater management studies.

Interpret and apply applicable codes, bylaws, and engineering standards including provincial floodplain mapping guidelines to design tasks.

Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, hydraulic model summaries, specifications, and supporting documentation.

Provide drafting and design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D for drainage systems, roadworks, site grading, and related civil components.

Participate in fieldwork, including stream and drainage assessments, data collection, construction reviews, surveying support, and site condition assessments.

Attend team meetings and support coordination with internal disciplines and project stakeholders, including municipalities and regulatory agencies.

Assist with daily reporting, record-keeping, and documentation of project progress.

Support project execution by assisting team members and taking on additional responsibilities as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Experience: 12 years of relevant civil engineering experience in Canada, with demonstrated exposure to hydrotechnical work.

Hydrotechnical: Experience with hydrological/hydraulic modelling (e.g. HEC-RAS, SWMM, or equivalent) and/or floodplain assessment is required.

Registration: Registered, or eligible for registration, as an EIT or P.Eng. in British Columbia.

Software: Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office; familiarity with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) is an asset. Drafting is a requirement for this role.

Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capability to manage competing priorities.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Valid Class 5 driver's licence (or equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle.
