This is a six-month contract to support increased business volume, with the potential for extension based on future transportation needs.
Reporting to the Shipping Coordinator, you will help coordinate outbound shipments from the Toronto facility to retail distribution centres across the US. This role focuses on carrier coordination, shipment tracking, appointment scheduling, documentation, and ensuring shipments are delivered on time.
Location: GTA. Work from home option.
Job Type: Temporary contract – 6 months to start
Compensation: $28 - $36/hour
Your day-to-day will include:
- Coordinate outbound truckload shipments from Toronto to retail distribution centres across the United States.
- Obtain carrier quotes and tender shipments using the company's Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Schedule pickups and delivery appointments while ensuring customer routing requirements and delivery windows are met.
- Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure on-time performance.
- Communicate proactively with carriers, warehouse personnel, and internal departments regarding shipment status, delays, and service issues.
- Track and resolve transportation exceptions and shipment delays.
- Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proofs of Delivery (PODs), customs documentation, and carrier paperwork.
- Support cross-border shipments by ensuring all required documentation is complete prior to shipment.
- Confirm completed deliveries and verify shipment documentation before forwarding carrier invoices and supporting documents to Accounting for payment.
- Maintain accurate transportation records while supporting daily transportation operations and customer service objectives.
You'll be a good fit if you possess:
- 2+ years of experience coordinating truckload transportation in a manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or supply chain environment.
- Experience working with third-party carriers and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Understanding of cross-border Canada/U.S. transportation and shipping documentation.
- Experience scheduling transportation appointments and monitoring shipment performance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience supporting major retail customers such as Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco, Home Depot, or similar retailers is considered an asset.
