Lead Mechanical Assembler

Location: Belleville, Ontario

Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Compensation: $25.00–$30.00 per hour

This position is suited to a hands-on manufacturing professional with experience assembling mechanical components, supporting production lines, and guiding other employees in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Automotive or Tier 1/Tier 2 experience is considered an asset.

What You'll Do

  • Complete mechanical assembly and sub-assembly work using drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Lead by example while remaining actively involved in daily production.
  • Help coordinate workflow, job priorities, materials, and employee assignments.
  • Train and cross-train assemblers on production processes and quality requirements.
  • Support equipment setups, tooling changes, fixtures, and production changeovers.
  • Use hand, power, pneumatic, and measuring tools safely and effectively.
  • Complete first-off and ongoing quality inspections.
  • Identify assembly, tooling, equipment, material, and quality concerns.
  • Support basic troubleshooting involving fixtures, sensors, conveyors, pneumatics, and automated equipment.
  • Monitor production output, scrap, defects, and downtime.
  • Communicate production concerns and shift-handoff information clearly.
  • Reinforce standardized work, 5S, plant safety, and quality procedures.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, tooling, and engineering teams.

What You Bring

  • Mechanical assembly, production assembly, machine-building, or comparable manufacturing experience.
  • Experience supporting or guiding assemblers, operators, or production employees.
  • Previous Lead Hand, trainer, or informal leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Understanding of standardized work, quality checks, scrap, downtime, and production targets.
  • Automotive Tier 1/Tier 2 or similar high-volume manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Ontario 433A Millwright certification or another relevant mechanical trade credential is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to support shift-based production requirements.
