GENERAL PRODUCTION OPERATOR (Sort-Assemble-Pack)
Hourly Rate of Pay: $23.96
Contract Employment: 40 hours per week. Must be available to work shifts. Shift premiums apply.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Sort/Assemble
- Operate all mechanical assembly/sorting equipment.
- Complete all associated testing and documentation for sorted, tapped, or assembly product.
- Analyze rejected products and submit samples to production, quality control, etc.
- Responsible for moving product through various departments for disposition.
- Perform minor maintenance and upkeep on sorting and tapping machines.
- Meet daily requirements for new parts, customer returns, and standard sort situations.
- Organize sorts for outside contractors with paperwork, samples, and detailed instructions.
- Set up following day sort jobs to ensure smooth flow through the mechanical department.
- Inform production of problems with non-conforming products through meetings and discussions.
- Locate and move stock from packing area to sorting.
- Use computer systems to issue lot numbers for various types of sorts.
- Lift boxes to and from mechanical sort equipment while maintaining a clean work environment.
- Perform inventory management and maintain workplace organization.
- Generate and complete all required paperwork.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines.
- Perform any other duties as requested by supervision and/or lead hand.
- Follow all IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 procedures. Familiarity with IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 is considered an asset.
Finish/Pack
- Move production parts, materials, and supplies within the department, utilizing proper means and safe procedures.
- In interim, continue to operate and control paint quality and paint processes on all finish lines.
- Perform visual inspection on product prior to packing.
- Pack and label product using automated equipment and computers.
- Understand and operate bar code label systems, utilizing computers.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Generate and complete all required paperwork.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines.
- Perform any other duties as requested by supervision and/or lead hand.
- Follow all IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 procedures. Familiarity with IATF 16949 & ISO 14001 is considered an asset.
Qualifications:
- Must have 1–3 years of experience operating industrial machinery (assembly, press, hydraulic, pneumatic).
- Ability to measure parts using precision measuring equipment.
- Previous forklift certification is an asset.
- Computer literate; knowledge of SAP is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills in a team-based atmosphere.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to adapt, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Capable of performing the essential demands (functional and cognitive) of the HT Operator role – per the Physical Demands Analysis on file.
- Problem-solving skills, technical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement ability.
- Solid attendance and reliability.
- Team player who can work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
