Position Description

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, thePayroll and AccountingAnalystis an experienced payroll and accounts payable specialist who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with efficiency, precision, and a continuous improvement mindset.The role is crucial in managing our financial transactions ensuringtimelyandaccuratepayments, requiring technical knowledge of payroll and benefits legislation in Canada and the ability to collaborate and provide excellent customer service to various Touchstone teams and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Payroll

  • Leads the payroll function including processes payroll, insuredbenefitsand pension benefitsfor full-time, fixed-term, and casualemployees, including inputting timesheets, extractingreportsand posting to General Ledger
  • Ensure compliance with all appliable legislationantax laws and stay informed of regulatory changes
  • Completespreparation and filing of all statutory returnsincluding EHT, WSIB, payroll remittances,andcompliancereports
  • Issuing ROE, Processing annual T4 and T4As, Annual payroll and remittances reconciliation
  • Attends to queries of staffregardingpayroll, taxformsand other finance-related requests
  • Collaborates closely with the People and Culture team to implement changes and improvements to staff payroll and benefits processes and solutions
  • Other tasks and projects as delegated from time to time

Accounts Payable

  • Administer the accounts payable process, includingtimelyinvoice processing, payment processing, vendor recordmanagementand cost analysis.
  • Performs General Ledger, billingsystemsand payment gateway reconciliations
  • Maintains all corporate credit cards statements and coordinates tracking of expense receiptswith credit card holders.
  • Prepare and analyze accounts payable reporting, aging reports, and cash flow management analysis.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure smooth processing and authorization ofpayments, andresolve any compliance and risk issues.
  • Maintains petty cash
  • Other tasks and projects as delegated from time to time

Accounting and Reporting

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, quarter-endand year-end accounting schedules.
  • Assistexternal auditors for interim and year-end related tasks.
  • Support the Director in researchingpayroll andaccounting issues and prepare analysis of andappropriate accountingand tax treatment.
  • Preparation,analysisand reconciliation of monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports and ad hoc reports as needed for management reporting, audits, and compliance reporting to the Ministry of Health related to Touchstones funding agreements.
  • Other tasks and projects as delegated from time to time

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting,finance, business administration,or a related field.
  • 3+ years ofpayrolland accounts payable or accountingexperience
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll processes, tax structure, statutory deductions, andpension benefits
  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification is an asset.
  • Experience in non-profit and healthcare organizations is anasset.
  • Strong, proven diligence with a customer service emphasis
  • Experience interacting with external auditors and government tax authorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with databases and financial systems for financial analysis and reporting
  • Expertisein Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
