GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Manager of Technical Publications and Product Training!

Reporting to the Director of Major Programs, the Manager of Technical Publications and Product Training provides both strategic and operational leadership for the development, governance, and delivery of product-level technical documentation and training for GTI sonar systems. This role oversees technical publications, IETMs, training programs, courseware, and related knowledge products that support operations, maintenance, customer delivery, and internal readiness.

The Manager is responsible for building and maintaining department capability, including resource planning, quality standards, workflow maturity, stakeholder alignment, and delivery performance across multiple programs and products. Working closely with Program Management, Engineering, ILS, Sonar Operations, Field Service, and Quality, this role ensures all documentation and training deliverables are accurate, compliant, user-focused, and aligned with GTIs business and program priorities.

Responsibilities

Department Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the Technical Publications andProductTraining department by setting thebusiness unitvision, priorities,resource strategy, and performance expectations.
  • Develop andmaintainthe departmental roadmap for technical publications, IETMs/IETPs, training programs, courseware, tools, processes, and capability development.
  • Translate business and program priorities into clear department plans, schedules, measurableobjectives, and risk mitigation actions.
  • AdviseGTI leadership on department performance, resource capacity, delivery risks, improvement opportunities, and strategic investment needs.

People Leadership

  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, expectations, and development plans that support team performance and long-term capability.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team of technical writers, trainers, illustrators, content developers, and related specialists.
  • Leaddepartmentalworkforce planning, onboarding, engagement, performance management, succession planning, and retention activities.
  • Champion theGeoSpectrumculture and promote collaboration,andproactive communication.

Technical Publications Governance

  • Own the governance, standards, processes, templates, and quality expectations for product-level technical documentation supporting GTI sonar systems, with a primary focus on operations and maintenance content.
  • Ensure documentation deliverables areaccurate, configuration-controlled, user-focused, and compliant with applicable contractual, quality, and technical standards, including S1000D whererequired.
  • Oversee the effective use and continuous improvement of content management systems, structured authoring tools, XML-based platforms, and publishing systems.

Training Strategy and Delivery Oversight

  • Lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery oversight for product-level training courses on GTI sonar systems for customers, end users, and internal teams.
  • Oversee curriculum design, courseware development and training delivery planning.
  • Ensure training programs are scalable, effective, technicallyaccurate, and aligned with product maturity, customer needs, contractual requirements, and program schedules.

Program, Stakeholder, and Customer Alignment

  • Partner with Program Management, Engineering, ILS, Sonar Operations, Field Service, Quality, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation and training commitments are planned, resourced, and delivered in alignment with business and program priorities.
  • Support proposal, planning, and estimation activities by providing input on publications and training scope, effort, schedules, assumptions, and delivery risks.
  • Proactively manage cross-functional dependencies, resolve delivery constraints, and escalate material risks or priority conflicts with recommended mitigation plans.
  • Ensure department deliverables support customer acceptance, operational readiness, maintainability, and long-term product supportobjectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on team feedback, program lessons learned, customer feedback, quality findings, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, orequivalentrelevant career experience.
  • Requires extensive experience in technical publications,producttraining, ILS, engineering documentation, product support, or a related technical environment, includingsignificant experienceleading teams.
  • Proven ability to manage department priorities, budgets, schedules, resource plans, risks, and deliverables across multiple programs or products.
  • Strong understanding of technical publications, structured authoring, IETM/IETP development, S1000D or similar standards, configuration-controlled documentation, training development, and product support environments.
  • Experience indefence, aerospace, marine, sonar, engineering, or other complex technical product environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional stakeholders, influence priorities, resolve delivery constraints, and communicate effectively with technical teams, program leadership, customers, and senior management.
  • Familiarity with XML-based authoring platforms, content management systems, publishing systems, learning management systems, and modern training delivery tools is an asset.

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel internationally.
