The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Team Lead, this position is responsible for the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of payroll across multiple entities and provinces.

Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll across multiple provinces.
  • Ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and in accordance with company policies, employment standards, and collective agreements.
  • Prepare and process payroll deductions, remittances, and reporting requirements.
  • Verify payroll data and conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and special payroll payments as required.
  • Administer Records of Employment (ROEs) and other payroll documentation.
  • Review and reconcile employee benefit deductions and related reporting.
  • Prepare remittances for unions, CRA, WCB, pension plans, and other statutory requirements.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries and provide support to operational teams regarding payroll-related matters.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all payroll legislation and internal policies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience processing high-volume payroll within a unionized environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, statutory remittances, and collective agreement administration.
  • Experience interpreting and applying collective agreements in a payroll capacity.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now (WFN); experience with Workforce Manager is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to payroll accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, discreet, and capable of handling highly confidential information.
  • Experience with benefits administration and payroll reconciliations is considered an asset.
