DESIGN TECHNICIAN

Position Overview

Tamlin International Homes is currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Homes Division, in office, as an Intermediate Designer located in Coquitlam, BC on a full-time basis.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist in the translation of the client's vision into a tangible design approach.

• Liaise with clients, to develop design approaches that exceed customer expectations.
• Assist in the planning of production schedules and workflow for the entire design process.
• Conceive creative concepts in response to client needs, translating such concepts into visual formats.
• Provide direct assistance in the building of brand identities and the development of messaging and imaging.
• Provide technical and creative guidance as required.
• Identify and offer solutions to complex design challenges as they present themselves.
• Oversee the execution of the developed design concept to ensure final offering stays true to initial and agreed upon vision.
• Coordinate and review structural engineering drawings and shop drawings as required.
• Provide leadership, development and mentoring of junior designers.

• Prepare and participate in internal/external meetings as required.

Knowledge/Experience

• Post-secondary diploma / degree in architectural technology or building technology

• Must have well developed knowledge of REVIT and 3D rendering software.

• Direct work experience (minimum 3 years) in residential wood frame house design with a comprehensive knowledge of detailing and ability to interpret building codes.
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Passionate self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated effective deadline management and project management skills.
