About Okanagan Solar

Established in 2009, Okanagan Solar is a premier renewable energy contractor specializing in the design, engineering, and installation of residential and commercial solar arrays and advanced battery backup systems. As a growing company at the forefront of BC's green energy transition, we pride ourselves on technical excellence, quality craftsmanship, and helping our communities achieve energy independence.

The Opportunity

Are you a Journeyman Electrician looking to step off the tools and transition your hard-earned field expertise into a strategic office role?

We are seeking a qualified, detail-oriented Project Electrician / Estimator to join our growing team in Kelowna. This role is perfect for a Red Seal professional who wants to trade the heavy lifting and daily site travel for a dynamic office position focused on project management, project costing, and estimating. You will play a pivotal role in scaling our operations, ensuring our residential and commercial projects are accurately quoted and seamlessly executed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating & Job Costing: Review project blueprints, site assessments, and technical specifications to prepare accurate, competitive estimates and material takeoffs for solar and battery storage projects.
  • Project Management & Logistics: Coordinate project timelines, track milestones, and support field crews to ensure seamless installations from design to grid connection.
  • Purchasing & Inventory: Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and oversee the procurement of high-value equipment (modules, inverters, racking, and battery systems).
  • Technical Support: Serve as an internal technical resource for the sales and installation teams, ensuring compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and utility connection requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in refining and automating our operational workflows as we scale our sales pipeline and project management systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certification: Valid Red Seal Electrical Ticket (required).
  • Experience: Strong background in residential and/or commercial electrical systems. Experience with renewable energy, solar PV, or battery storage (e.g., ESS, backup systems) is a significant asset but not mandatory—we will train the right technical expert.
  • Office Skills: Proven experience or strong aptitude in construction estimating, job costing, and project management.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable utilizing or learning modern digital tools, project management platforms, and CRM systems to streamline workflows.
  • Communication: Exceptional organizational skills and clear professional communication skills (both written and verbal) to collaborate with clients, suppliers, and field teams.

What We Offer

  • Work-Life Balance: A stable, mostly office-based role that keeps you in the industry you love without the daily physical toll of field work.
  • Growth Potential: Be a key player in a rapidly growing company within the booming renewable energy sector.
  • Full Benefits Package: Medical and Dental benefits
  • Great Culture: Join a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values innovation, autonomy, and a shared passion for clean energy.

To Apply

If you are ready to take the next step in your career and help shape the future of solar energy in the Okanagan Valley, we want to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you are ready to make the move from the field to the office.
