OverviewAn established organization operating within the construction and infrastructure sector is seeking a Senior Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator to support and strengthen health, safety, and environmental performance across multiple project sites.
This position serves as a key resource to field operations and project leadership teams, providing guidance on regulatory compliance, risk management, incident prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will play an active role in fostering a strong safety culture while mentoring junior HSE professionals and supporting the execution of company-wide safety programs.Salary: $65,000 - $85,000
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of health, safety, and environmental programs across multiple project locations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, ensuring corrective actions are identified, documented, and completed.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements and provide coaching where necessary.
  • Lead or participate in incident and near-miss investigations, utilizing root cause analysis methodologies to identify contributing factors and preventive measures.
  • Develop, track, and communicate corrective action plans following incidents, inspections, and audits.
  • Prepare reports and safety metrics for project teams and senior leadership, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
  • Support the development and delivery of health and safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
  • Verify that required certifications, orientations, and training records remain current and compliant.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior HSE team members and site personnel.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to proactively integrate safety considerations into planning and operational activities.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness initiatives, including drills, response planning, and program evaluations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, employee engagement, and ongoing communication.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance organizational HSE performance.
  • Perform additional duties related to health, safety, environmental compliance, and operational support as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive health and safety experience within the construction, infrastructure, industrial, or related sectors.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional designation such as CRSP, CSP, NCSO, or equivalent is considered a strong asset.
  • Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety legislation, construction safety requirements, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Experience supporting COR-certified environments and participating in internal or external audit processes.
  • Knowledge of management systems and auditing frameworks such as COR, ISO 14001, or equivalent programs is preferred.
  • Strong investigation, root cause analysis, and risk assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple project sites.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HSE management platforms.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly between project locations.

Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, permanent position requiring regular presence at active construction and project sites. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in both office and field environments and travelling throughout the assigned region.
