Licensed Sheet Metal / HVAC Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Licensed Sheet Metal / HVAC Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and residential HVAC systems, ductwork, ventilation systems, and related mechanical equipment.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and can operate independently while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Installation & Service

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, rooftop units, ventilation systems, and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective repairs in coordination with electrical team
• Perform preventative maintenance and system inspections in accordance with manufacturer recommendation and company O&M manual policies
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and mechanical drawings
• Plan and coordinate site activities in advance in accordance with project requirements

Sheet Metal Fabrication & Installation

• Measure, fabricate, assemble, and install HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components.
• Modify and repair existing duct systems as required.
• Ensure installations meet building codes and industry standards.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Maintain required certifications and licenses.
• Complete all required service documentation and reports.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturer specifications.

Customer Service

• Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.
• Explain repair recommendations and system issues clearly.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid Ontario Sheet Metal Worker Licence (308A) and/or HVAC Technician certification.
• Vaid 313A – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic.
• Registered with STO
• Able to complete material takeoff and place order
• Minimum 5 years of HVAC and sheet metal experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of gas-fired equipment and controls.
• Valid G Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Strong understanding of Ontario Building Code and HVAC regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights, outdoors, and in confined spaces.

Preferred

• Gas Technician 2 (G2) or Gas Technician 1 (G1) License
• Technical Standards & Safety Authority
• ODP Certification
• Working at Heights Certification.
• Experience with commercial HVAC systems and rooftop units

Compensation: $25-30/hr
