Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice

Summary

As an apprentice you will be responsible for assisting the Shop Foreman with maintenance and repair of our trucks and trailers. This position will report directly to the Shop Foreman and Regional Operations Manager. Other responsibilities will also include keeping inventory, conduct diagnostic tests, assist technicians, as well as any other shop related tasks.

Job Description

• Diagnose problems with vehicles and schedule repairs

• Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers

• Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks

• Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades

• Maintain parts inventory

• Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager or supervisor
• Maintain Fleet Service Management data entry

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in similar job, preferred

• Be able to occasionally lift up to 70 lbs. Also able to squat, reach, etc.

• Be able to work independently and as part of a team

• Computer skills

• Truck and Trailer experience would be considered an asset

• Availability to work after hours and be on a on call schedule.

• Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities

• Valid driver's license with clean abstract and background check
