Development Coordinator, Annual Giving
What We Do
YESS is a not-for-profit agency working with youth facing difficult realities. Based in Edmonton, our Youth Support Centre provides immediate and low-barrier 24/7 sleep support and individualized wrap-aroundsupportsfor young people aged 15 -24.
We work collaboratively within a network of care, focused on the prevention of youth homelessness by providing youth with the necessary supports to stabilize their housing, improve their wellbeing, build life skills, connect with community, and avoid re-entry into homelessness.

What You Will Do
Reporting to theFund Development and Third-Party Manager, theDevelopment Coordinator,Annual Givingis responsible forleading individual donor focused fundraising initiatives. Key to the role is the responsibility for developing and fostering individual donor relationships to grow andretaina sustainable foundation of support for the organization. This further includes participating and executing campaigns related to individual giving.
Within the framework of individual giving, this roleis responsible forexecuting the organizations development strategy in alignment with the vision, mission, and valuesof the organization.
Hours of Work:Full-Time (40 hoursper week,January - July: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote, August - December: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building
- This roleis responsible forcultivating existing donor relationships with a specific focus on lapsed donors, gift in kind donors, and those who have given 2-5 years
- This includes meeting one on one with individual donors to gain a better understanding of their philanthropic interests and motivations with a goal of cultivating ongoing YESS support.
- SupportFund Development and Third-Party Managerin stewardship of long-time and legacy donors through same methods
- Ensures donor contact is personalized through a muti-channel approachi.e.one on ones, letters, phone calls ina timelyand professional manner
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews to ensure that donor relationships are advancing, and donor development activities are on track.
- Utilizes individual donor relationships toidentifyexternal opportunities to build community partnerships in collaboration with Corporate Giving and/or grants and foundations.
- Serve as the first point of contact for departmental phone inquiries,providingtimelyassistance, responding to inquiries, and directing calls to theappropriate teammembers
Executing and tracking campaigns
- As directed by theFund Development and Third-Party Manager, coordinate and manage timelines andlogisticsfor various campaigns to ensure individual givingplans are conductedin a timely mannerwith a focus oncultivationand retention of individual donors and graduating them to higher levels of engagement and support.
- Prepare and coordinate the creation of various fundraising materials such as proposals, briefing notes, presentations, letters, and other documentation to support effective donor engagement.
- Throughout each campaign, review progress and analyze results as to why the campaign is succeeding and/or not on track to achieve funding targets to adjust the campaign inastimelymanner as possible. Specifically examine why the individual actively became involved and what their motivation was forparticipatingand/or giving.
- Recommend adjustments to theFund Development and Third-Party Managerwhen campaigns require change, including providing concrete plans to address the deficiencies.
- This role willsupportcampaigns such as, but not limited to: The Walk for YESS, Giving Tuesday, Monthly Giving, PlannedGiving, and the Annual Year-End Campaign.
- The role is expected to work collaboratively with the corporate giving teamand database teamswhen executing campaigns and analyzing the results.
- Generate weekly contact reportsidentifyingdonors and progress made and outlining potential opportunities for increased giving and/or better understanding of the donors needs in relation to giving.
- Responsible for management and stewarding of all individual donors with metrics developed and reported annually for growth and retention rates.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelors degree in a related fieldor equivalentexperienceworking in fund development.
- Experience mustdemonstratestrong individual donor stewardship skills.
- Project management skills related to campaign executionarehighly desirable.
- Previousexperience willdemonstratethe ability to analyze donor data for the purpose ofidentifyingtrends and setting new objectives.
- Proficiencywith computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook and Raisers Edge or comparable donor database preferred.

- Clear police clearance (PIC) and a Child Intervention (CIRC) check, both obtained within the last six months.
