Shop & Yard Assistant / Helper

A shop and yard assistant/helper maintains safe, clean work environments and supports daily operations. Responsibilities typically involve organizing stock, assisting technicians, loading/unloading materials, and performing general maintenance. This physical role requires heavy lifting and basic tool knowledge.

The Shop & Yard Assistant ensures the smooth and safe daily operation of the workshop and surrounding outdoor yard space. This position requires a proactive, physically capable individual who can assist tradespeople, handle materials, and maintain the facility's organization

• Organization: Keep the shop floor, storage units, and outdoor yard meticulously clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Upkeep: Perform basic facility maintenance, such as sweeping, clearing debris, and pressure-washing equipment.
• Weather duties: Manage outdoor conditions, which may include snow clearing, salting walkways, or securing outdoor assets during inclement weather.
• Assistance: Provide general physical assistance to mechanics, technicians, or machine operators as directed.
• Parts Runner: Pick up or deliver parts, tools, and supplies from local vendors and project sites.

Key Requirements

• Physical Capability: Must be able to perform demanding manual labor, including standing for extended periods and routinely lifting/carrying materials up to 50–75 lbs.
• Tool & Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with standard hand/power tools, workshop machinery, and basic safety protocols.
• Driver's License: A valid driver's license (often a clean Class 5 or higher) is usually required for parts runs and operating yard vehicles
• Safety Compliance: A strict adherence to workplace safety regulations, including wearing required PPE (boots, vests, hard hats, etc.)
