Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the corporate accounting function, supporting corporately managed, multi-entity and multi-site business lines across diverse operations such as hotels, restaurants, and resorts. Reporting to the Controller, Corporate Accounting, this role leads full-cycle accounting, supports centralized corporate activities, and ensures accurate, timely financial information for decision-making. The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with operations and cross-functional teams, contributes to consolidated financial reporting, and helps drive process improvements and automation in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial results for corporately managed, multi-entity and multi-site business lines.
  • Prepare periodic financial updates and various financial reports to support management and corporate decision-making.
  • Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Liaise with operations management on accounting issues, providing guidance, clarification, and financial insights.
  • Perform and review complex balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) accounting across multiple projects and initiatives, ensuring proper tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of external bank reporting, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Manage property tax and insurance accounting for all divisions and brands, coordinating with internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Oversee payroll accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely payroll entries, reconciliations, and related reporting.
  • Assist with treasury accounting functions, including cash management, bank reconciliations, and liquidity reporting.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, identify risks, and recommend changes to strengthen control environments where necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, restaurant operations, and other departments, to drive process improvements and prioritize automation.
  • Build strong working relationships with business units to promote synergies and support operational and strategic objectives.
  • Support annual external financial statement audits and tax filing requirements by preparing schedules, responding to queries, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Analyze large data sets using Excel and other tools to support financial reporting, reconciliations, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Work within defined schedules and deadlines to deliver core financial reporting while effectively addressing ad hoc requests and fluctuations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and participate in projects that enhance financial processes and reporting capabilities.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience in industry or public practice.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and reconciliation processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including pivots, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, and advanced formulas.
  • Experience with corporate accounting in a multi-entity and multi-site environment.
  • Ability to manage CAPEX accounting and related project accounting activities.
  • Experience with payroll accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Experience with treasury-related tasks such as cash management, bank reconciliations, and liquidity reporting.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and risk identification in an accounting environment.
  • Close to a professional accounting designation or fully designated (CPA or equivalent such as ACCA, ACA, or US CPA).
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with multiple departments and operational teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, including core financial reporting and ad hoc requests.
  • Proficiency in large data analysis using Excel and related tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with an ERP system such as Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Experience with financial reporting and consolidations.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret and explain results.
  • Familiarity with Power BI at an end-user level, including navigating reports and dashboards.
  • Experience working in a multi-system environment.
  • Independent and self-motivated approach to work.

Work Environment

The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Controller, Corporate Accounting, and works closely with the broader corporate accounting team and operational teams across the organization. The corporate accounting team consists of a small, collaborative group that operates in an open work environment, encouraging communication and teamwork. The working model is primarily in-office, with team members typically spending four days in the office and one day working from home, with flexibility to align with the schedule of the person providing training. The standard workweek is 40 hours, with additional hours expected during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end periods to meet reporting and audit deadlines. The organization is a large, stable, and complex multi-entity business with extensive operations in hotels, restaurants, resorts, and related sectors, offering broad exposure to different industries and operational models.
