Counter and Warehouse Associate

Fred Surridge LTD is looking for a multi-talented, reliable Counter & Warehouse Associate to become a part of our team. We aren't just offering a job; we are searching for a mature individual who demonstrates genuine ownership and approaches their work with the same care as if they owned the business. Your day will involve a dynamic mix of tasks, shifting effortlessly from forklift operation and handling heavy inventory to providing expert assistance to customers over the phone.

Given our focus on industrial supplies, we highly value candidates with a background in construction, plumbing, or underground water and sewer systems. However, for a candidate with the right mindset and a great attitude, we are more than happy to provide necessary training!

Key Responsibilities

• Customer & Team Communication: Maintain strong, clear, and professional communication with both our customers and internal team members.
• Customer Service & Counter Sales: Greet walk-in customers, answer phone inquiries, and assist clients in selecting the correct tools, parts, and materials for their projects.
• Warehouse Operations: Receive, unload, sort, and organize incoming inventory. Prepare and stage orders for customer pickup or delivery.
• Equipment Operation & Heavy Lifting: Safely operate a forklift to move heavy materials, load customer vehicles, and regularly lift/maneuver materials weighing 50+ pounds.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Ownership Mindset: A self-starter who takes pride in their work, possesses a strong work ethic, and treats company resources with respect.
• Industry Experience: Previous experience in construction, plumbing, or underground water/sewer utilities is required. You must be comfortable speaking the language of tradespeople and contractors.
• Equipment & Physical Skills: Proven experience operating a forklift and the physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds consistently.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
• Background & Screening: Applicants may be required to undergo drug testing as well as a criminal record check.
• Probationary Period: All new hires undergo a standard 90-day probationary period to ensure a great mutual fit.
