Prep Cook - Umami

Umami is a new Asian fusion restaurant bringing bold flavours, fresh ingredients, and creative dishes to Brantford. We're looking for dependable, hardworking Prep Cooks who are excited to be part of a growing team and help build something special from day one. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen, take pride in organization and consistency, and want to grow your culinary skills, we'd love to meet you. This is for a full time position of about 35hrs weekly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and chef specifications
• Wash, cut, peel, and prepare vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, and other ingredients
• Assist in preparing sauces, marinades, dressings, and other menu components
• Properly label, date, and store food products
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep stations, coolers, and storage areas
• Receive and organize deliveries
• Support line cooks and chefs during service as needed
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties

Requirements

• Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is an asset but not required
• Passion for food and willingness to learn
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Food Handler Certification is considered an asset
