The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the coordination and delivery of aluminum railings and other miscellaneous metal products, specializing in the low, medium, and high-rise residential construction sector with clients across Alberta.
The successful candidate will own each project from contract award through final close-out, coordinating between estimating, drafting, fabrication, shipping, and field installation while interfacing daily with general contractors, consulting engineers of record (EORs), architects, municipal building officials/inspectors, and site personnel. This role requires strong technical command of residential construction and miscellaneous metals, disciplined contract and change management, fluency in the Alberta Building Code (ABC) and applicable CSA standards, and the ability to keep shop drawings, mill orders, and installation sequences moving in lockstep with the site schedule.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery

Manage end-to-end delivery: award, drafting, fabrication, coating, shipping, installation, and close-out.
Track schedules, fabrication progress, installation, sequencing, costs, and scope changes
Issue and maintain fabrication and installation schedules aligned with the GCs critical path.
Prepare and maintain project execution plans, installation sequence plans, progress reports, and project budgets for internal leadership and client review.
Respond to site conditions: RFIs, field-fit issues, missing/damaged pieces, back-charges, and retrofit work.
Coordinate between internal teams (estimating, drafting, fabrication shop, logistics) and external parties (GC, EOR, architect, connection engineer, inspection agencies, installation subcontractors, etc).


Contract & Change Management


Reference contract documents and specifications (CSI MasterFormat Divisions 05 12 00 and 05 50 00) throughout the project lifecycle to guide scope interpretation.
Identify and process change orders, extras, and variations promptly; coordinate billings, statutory holdback, and lien discharge under the Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act (Alberta).
Issue timely written notice for schedule and scope impacts; maintain an auditable record of all correspondence to protect the companys contractual position.


Drawing Management

Manage submission and approval of shop, installation, and fabrication drawings (AutoCAD); maintain submittal, RFI, and transmittal logs.
Prioritize concept and preliminary drawings for material on the critical path and long-lead mill material.
QA/QC shop drawings to ensure they meet the project intent.
Coordinate trade interfaces (architectural, mechanical, electrical, precast, curtain wall, elevator) to prevent clashes around embeds, penetrations, and miscellaneous attachments.


Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Construction Management, Business or a related discipline.
PMP (Project Management Institute) or Gold Seal Certification (Canadian Construction Association) is considered an asset


Experience

Three (3) to Five (5) years of project management experience in construction management and/or miscellaneous metals fabrication or similar

Reading and interpreting show drawing
Working knowledge of construction contracts, change order management, and other administrative project tasks


Skills & Competencies

Strong command of project scheduling, cost tracking, and scope control
Ability to read, interpret, and QA/QC structural, architectural, and miscellaneous metals drawings
Proficiency Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Work, and Outlook,

Understanding of AutoCAD and Wrike considered an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills
Sound commercial judgment to balance schedule, cost, quality, and contractual risk


Working Conditions

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, with time spent between plant and active construction sites
Occasional travel within Alberta based on job site location Must comply with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code, including CSA-approved PPE
Fall Protection (ESC or equivalent Alberta training) required prior to site attendance
WHMIS 2015 and Alberta OHS Supervisor training required
Comfortable working at heights, around cranes, and in active fabrication environments
Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence and reliable transportation required
