Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is seeking a hands-on Assistant Maintenance Manager to support a small team in maintaining our exceptional oceanfront property. This role combines physical work with leadership responsibilities and requires someone who can think on their feet, manage competing priorities, and contribute directly to maintenance, repair, and beautification projects throughout the resort.

Located in Ucluelet on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort combines rugged coastal beauty with modern comfort. Our resort offers guests a luxury West Coast experience through our oceanfront accommodations, spa, lounge and restaurant. We reside within the Yuulu?ilath - Ucluelet First Nation traditional territory, of whose ancestral lands we work and play.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team, maintain consistent and solid service standards, oversee quality control of maintenance teams work and provide appropriate coaching and mentoring to staff in maintenance and other departments.
  • Direct maintenance teams workflow- Assist and support a team to troubleshoot, triage and prioritize repairs and preventative maintenance to a large property with many different systems.
  • Proactively ensure the resorts property and buildings are kept in safe and good repair, to meet or exceed guest & staff expectations.
  • Organize, the work of contractors and specialists.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments to mitigate disruption to hotel operation
  • Collaborate with the management team and hotel staff to facilitate an excellent guest experience

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Able to work with others
  • Knowledge of processes and techniques in areas such as carpentry, , plumbing, mechanical systems, painting/ drywall, building envelope, etc. general understanding of electrical principles.
  • Able to use hotel software to aid in maintenance workflow
  • Commitment to providing an excellent guest and employee experience
  • Ability to build relationships with service providers; understand when their services are needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a busy service environment
  • Flexible availability
