Position Summary

The Maintenance Coordinator is a hands-on coordination and leadership role responsible for the planning, scheduling, and oversight of maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and production uptime.

A 433A Licensed Millwright (preferred) will bring strong mechanical expertise alongside the ability to coordinate maintenance planning, inventory management, purchasing activities, team support, and project execution. This role requires someone who can effectively balance structured planning and coordination with hands-on support during peak operational demands, while driving preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Coordination & Execution
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work requests based on equipment criticality, production requirements, and safety considerations.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Provide hands-on support to maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repair activities as required.
  • Coordinate assignment of maintenance tasks and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment performance and conduct regular floor walkthroughs to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate fabrication, repair, and sourcing of replacement parts and equipment, both internally and externally.
Leadership & Team Coordination
  • Provide day-to-day coordination, guidance, and support to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in managing work assignments, scheduling, time and attendance, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance coverage to support production requirements.
  • Reinforce safety policies, maintenance standards, and company procedures.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Act as the facility's 5S Champion, supporting workplace organization, audits, and compliance initiatives.
Inventory, Purchasing & Asset Coordination
  • Coordinate maintenance purchasing activities including consumables, spare parts, tools, and services.
  • Maintain and support development of machine-specific critical spare parts inventories.
  • Review and assist in optimizing inventory levels to reduce downtime risk and operational disruption.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, warranty providers, and maintenance service suppliers.
  • Support efficient storage and organization of maintenance materials and spare parts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure availability of critical components.
  • Support inventory planning aligned with operational and budgetary requirements.
Budgeting & Continuous Improvement
  • Support development and tracking of maintenance operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures and assist with variance reporting.
  • Analyze maintenance performance data and support improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on reliability, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives across the facility.
Qualifications
  • Valid Ontario 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) License preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance coordination, leadership, or supervisory support role.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance systems, planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience with spare parts inventory management, purchasing, and vendor coordination.
  • Experience supporting equipment installations, upgrades, and capital projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and ERP/MRP software considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
