Phasor Engineering Inc. is a high-voltage electrical engineering and construction company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Quanta Services. We deliver complex substation, transmission line, panel fabrication, high-voltage commissioning and testing, and geomatics projects across Canada and the United States. Our PMO drives project controls discipline across five divisions and a portfolio of several hundred concurrent projects.

THE ROLE

We are hiring a Project Scheduler to join our Project Controls team. This is a hands-on role for a scheduler who has lived inside projects — not just administered tools — and who can equally step back to evaluate how labour and resource demand stacks across the portfolio. You will own schedule development and maintenance across a set of assigned projects, produce resource-loaded programs that inform PMO-level planning, and be a technical resource to Project Managers and Project Controllers on scheduling methodology.

You will report to the Project Controls Manager and work closely with Divisional PMs, Project Controllers, and Estimators throughout the project lifecycle from handover through closeout.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule Development & Ownership

• Develop, baseline, and maintain detailed CPM schedules (P6 or MS Project) for assigned projects from kickoff through closeout

• Define WBS structures aligned to the project scope, contract deliverables, and Phasor's cost code framework

• Establish logic-driven networks with durations supported by production rates, crew compositions, and historical benchmarks

• Identify and maintain the critical path; clearly communicate float consumption and emerging risks to PMs

• Perform schedule updates on a defined cadence (typically bi-weekly or monthly), incorporating actual progress, approved changes, and revised forecasts

• Issue schedule narratives, variance analyses, and look-ahead reports for client and internal use

Resource Loading & Organizational Capacity Planning

• Build resource-loaded schedules that reflect actual crew, equipment, and subcontractor demand at the activity level

• Aggregate resource histograms across the assigned portfolio to surface organizational peak demand, conflicts, and loading gaps for PMO review

• Coordinate with Divisional Managers and the PMO to model resourcing scenarios and support workforce planning decisions

• Translate resource demand data into inputs for the PMO's forward-looking resource planning workbook

Change Management & Earned Value Integration

• Assess schedule impacts of scope changes, weather events, and client-driven delays; prepare TIA documentation as required

• Support SPI and EV tracking by maintaining the performance measurement baseline (PMB) and providing schedule data to Project Controllers

• Flag forecast-at-completion schedule risks for PM review and escalation

Standards, Tools & Collaboration

• Contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of Phasor's scheduling standards, templates, and coding structures

• Participate in project handover meetings and schedule review sessions with PMs, estimators, and divisional leadership

• Support training and mentorship of Project Controllers on scheduling fundamentals and tool usage

• Maintain schedule files in accordance with PMO file management and audit requirements

Requirements

Required

• Minimum 5 years of direct, hands-on schedule ownership on capital or EPC projects — you have built, baselined, maintained, and reported on schedules, not just updated them

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, including resource loading, baseline management, and critical path analysis

• Demonstrated ability to aggregate resource demand across multiple concurrent projects and translate it into organizational-level capacity analysis

• Solid understanding of CPM scheduling principles, WBS development, float management, and change impact analysis

• Experience supporting or producing Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) or schedule delay claims

• Strong communication skills — able to explain schedule status and critical path logic clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred

• Background in electrical, substation, transmission, or heavy civil/industrial construction

• Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) concepts — SPI, CPI, PMB — and integration of schedule data with project cost reporting

• Experience working within a PMO or multi-project controls environment

• Post-secondary education in engineering technology, construction management, or a related discipline

• PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) or PMP designation is an asset

• Exposure to project management platforms such as InEight Control or similar EPC-focused tools

Benefits

  • Dental care
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
  • On-site gym
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off
  • RRSP match
  • Vision care
  • Wellness program
