Job Details:
Do you have strong mechanical aptitude and experience working in hands-on industrial or heavy equipment environments? We are hiring a Helper Service Technician to join a growing industrial dock & door service team supporting commercial and logistics facilities across the GTA.
This is a field-based, mobile service role working alongside experienced technicians to install, repair, and maintain industrial loading dock systems and commercial door equipment.
We are not looking for residential door technicians or basic maintenance-only backgrounds. We are looking for mechanically capable individuals who have worked in real equipment environments and are ready to grow into a specialized industrial trade.
What You'll Do
- Work alongside Lead Technicians on service calls and installations for:
- Loading dock levelers, vehicle restraints, dock seals & shelters
- Sectional overhead doors, rolling steel doors, fire-rated doors
- Hydraulic and mechanical dock systems
- Support diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of breakdown equipment in the field
- Assist with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems
- Use tools, equipment, and truck stock to complete service work efficiently
- Maintain accurate service records (work orders, job details, time tracking, materials used)
- Support safety inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs
- Communicate professionally with site contacts, contractors, and customers
- Follow strict safety protocols in industrial environments (dock pits, loading bays, confined spaces)
- Participate in training and hands-on development to progress into a Service Technician role
We are building a team from strong mechanical foundations, not just direct dock & door experience.
Strong Fit Backgrounds Include:
- Millwrights (ideal)
- Heavy equipment mechanics or technicians
- Agricultural or industrial equipment technicians
- Field service technicians working with hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Mechanical/electrical apprentices with real field exposure
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
- Experience performing diagnostics on equipment breakdowns (not just PM work)
- Ability to learn industrial dock & door systems quickly
- Comfort working in physically demanding, outdoor, and industrial environments
- Willingness to work in safety-sensitive settings (dock pits, loading bays, elevated work)
- Residential garage door technicians (limited industrial exposure)
- Preventative maintenance-only backgrounds with no diagnostics experience
- Candidates unwilling to work in physically demanding or dirty environments
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and work in all weather conditions
- Strong reliability, work ethic, and safety-first mindset
- Willingness to travel within the GTA and surrounding regions
- Open to learning a specialized industrial trade
- Unionized role
- Approx. $35/hour base with full package in the high $30s to low $40s range
- Progression pathway from Helper → Technician → Lead Technician
- Ongoing training and mentorship in industrial dock & door systems
Why Join
- Work in a highly specialized, safety-focused industrial trade
- Exposure to complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems
- Strong emphasis on training and career development
- Opportunity to grow into a fully licensed Service Technician role
- Work with a team that values practical skill, reliability, and real-world experience
If you are mechanically inclined, hands-on, and ready to build a long-term career in industrial service work, we want to hear from you.
