The Opportunity – Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Professional

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Professional to join our Calgary, Alberta office. The successful candidate will serve as a project management leader: working directly with watershed and water resource clients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to business development efforts across Alberta and Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute projects in the areas of Watershed Management, Water Resources Strategy and Integrated Planning.
  • Regularly engage with clients on all project matters for the full project life cycle.
  • Responsible for project controls and internal systems.
  • Plan workshops and lead facilitated meetings and group conversations.
  • Lead project teams of junior and / or technical resources.
  • Prioritize and delegate assignments.
  • Support proposal development as requested.
  • Engage in client development and management supported by local offices

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental sciences. Master's degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Environmental Professional
  • 7-10 years' experience, including at least 5 years project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail
  • Superior technical writing skills
  • Experience and confidence in meeting facilitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Alberta regulatory frameworks, water licensing and water-related Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and cascading regulations.
  • Experience in an engineering consulting organization a significant asset
