Brookdale Treeland Nurseries Limited (BTN) is one of the largest and most respected growers of garden plants in Canada. We are proud to service garden retailers, landscape contractors, municipalities, and golf courses throughout Canada and the northern United States. We service our customers from three locations in Ontario, one in British Columbia and one in New Brunswick with a total land base of over 700 acres. BTN is currently looking at growing our team at our Chilliwack, BC location. Position: Grower Ideal Qualifications * Will have at least three years experience as a Grower or Assistant Grower or will possess a Horticultural Degree and have at least one year of experience working in a Nursery setting. * Proven leadership skills and a high level of initiative. * Possess basic computer skills including a proficiency in report writing and spreadsheets. * Will be detail oriented. * Have strong organizational, time management and communication skills. Job Requirements * Oversee day to day operation of all growing areas of the Nursery. * Work to develop and oversee an effective IPM program. * Work closely with management team to develop and plan a production schedule * Will liaise with suppliers, government officials and industry experts. * Supervise a varied work crew of up to 20 permanent and seasonal staff. * Coordinate and oversee the irrigation operation at the nursery. * Track and record all process and work schedules with the goal to find and institute efficiencies. * Work to ensure plant material is ready for scheduled shipment dates. * Help to establish quality standards for all plant inventory grown at the nursery. * Undertake regular inventory inspections and soil/water tests to determine potential quality issues.
