Project Manager – Water/Wastewater Construction
Maple Reinders Constructors is currently searching for an experienced Project Manager to join our Civil construction division in Mississauga, Ontario. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be a part of the Duffin Creek WPCP Biosolids Treatment Replacement project in Pickering, Ontario.
The Project Manager is Maple Reinders designated representative to the Owner/Client. The morals, ethics and standards of the company and its employees are to be reflected. The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the project. This position is ultimately responsible for: ensuring that a profit is made on the project; that the work is performed as per the contract documents; that the project is completed with outstanding quality; and that the project is a safe workplace.
Key Job Duties:
- Developing successful relationships with clients, consultants, architects, sub-contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Effectively managing the project with the skills, they have and following Maple Reinders' process and procedures ensuring each project is delivered with quality and consistency.
- Sharing your knowledge by mentoring Project Coordinators, guiding them to progress in their careers.
- Supporting the National Business Development team and assisting the Construction Manager in developing schedules for projects in the pursuit phase and approving final submissions as required.
- Involved in the negotiation of contracts with owners and their agents.
- Developing a construction budget and regular cost projection reviews.
- Preparing and updating a cost-effective plan and schedule for successful completion of the project.
- Compile and submit to Construction Manager initial project budgeting.
- Selecting suppliers and sub-trades and obtaining quotations.
- Negotiating and clarifying scope of work with sub-trades and suppliers.
- Managing the submittals and approvals process.
- Reviewing shop drawings.
- Setup and orderly management of project administration files.
- Document control (distribution of drawings & specifications).
- Involvement in implementing and updating QA/QC in individual projects.
- Ensuring progress payments are received in a timely manner.
- Quote and negotiate change orders.
- Attend/Lead and prepare for project start up, progress and close out meetings.
- Managing project close out.
- Identifying construction risks, opportunities and thorough assessment of site conditions, sub-contractor, and labour availability.
- Payment requisitions and change management between Maple, client, sub-trades, and suppliers.
- Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts.
- Emphasizing site safety in accordance with regulatory requirements as well as our corporate Health & Safety Policy.
Our Project Managers are responsible for Water / Wastewater projects typically in the value of $50-100M. You will have the overall responsibility for the success of the project supported by your strong team of Estimators, Superintendents, Project Coordinators and hourly employees. With your strong business sense, you will be empowered to run your project as your own small business with the support of management and other project teams.
To quality for this position, the ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a general contractor
- Experience in Water/Wastewater, Energy projects, and civil infrastructure construction
- A University Degree/Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering, or a combination of education and industry experience
- Professional Designation preferred - P. Eng and/or Gold Seal

Salary Range: $100,000 - $145,000 / Year (depending on experience)
Location: Will be a mix of in office (Mississauga) and on-site (Pickering)
