Summer Student - Outdoor Maintenance Worker

Summer Student – Outdoor Maintenance Worker (July 2, 2026 to August 31, 2026)

PGNFC Maintenance Team

{35 hrs. per week - $19.85/hr.}

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Assistant Executive Director, the Summer Student Outdoor Maintenance Worker will support the upkeep and beautification of outdoor spaces at PGNFC's main facility, childcare centres/playgrounds, and other offsite locations. The successful candidate will perform general landscaping, groundskeeping, and outdoor maintenance tasks throughout the summer months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing lawns, trimming, weeding, and removing debris
• Inspect and clean outdoor play equipment to ensure it remains safe and functional
• Water plants, assist with gardening projects, and maintain green spaces
• Conduct light repairs and maintain outdoor tools and equipment
• Identify and report any maintenance issues or safety concerns
• Adhere to all safety protocols and work with minimal supervision
• Provide support for outdoor site preparation during events or programming, as needed
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Must be a student who will be returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2025
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage time effectively
• Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Basic knowledge and safe operation of garden tools, lawn mowers, and trimmers
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour (e.g., lifting, bending, standing for extended periods)
• Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check prior to employment
