A) Nature and Scope

The Director of Programs provides strategic and operational leadership for NBMC's core programs and initiatives, including IMVisible, the Rural Settlement Network, Imagine NB, and Equity Stream. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director oversees up to 4 FTE based on current funding agreements, with responsibility to provide oversight and management coverage for additional program staff (up to 10 FTE as required to ensure continuity of operations) leads proposal development, funder relations, and represents NBMC with key government, community, and sector partners across New Brunswick

B) Organizational Structure

The Director of programs reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the Human Resources Specialist and other NBMC employees.

C) Dimensions

NBMC is the bilingual, nonprofit umbrella organization for established and emerging multicultural/ethnocultural associations and immigrant-serving agencies in the province. Since 1983, NBMC has played a key advisory role to federal, provincial and municipal levels of government on issues relating to multiculturalism, immigration, newcomer settlement, retention and labour market integration. NBMC is also valued by the settlement and multicultural community as a central coordinating/capacity-building body that promotes efficiency, avoids duplication of services, and allows for an exchange of best practices and other resources through its network of organizations, contacts, partners, etc.

NBMC is a member serving organization with 20 member organizations located in all parts of the province, including: Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Woodstock, Edmundston, Campbellton, St. Quentin, Bathurst, Acadian Peninsula, Miramichi, Sussex, and Charlotte County.

NBMC works closely with the provincial government, including Immigration New Brunswick, a division of the Department of Post Secondary Education and Labour, among other departments.

NBMC works closely with the Federal government Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, among other departments.

As a provincial umbrella organization, NBMC works with numerous stakeholders in Francophone Immigration such as le Reseau en Immigration Francophone du Nouveau-Brunswick, lAssociation Francophone des Municipalits du Nouveau-Brunswick, and le Socit Nationale de lAcadie.

D) Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Programs provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for NBMC's core programs and initiatives. This role is responsible for driving program excellence, cultivating key partnerships, leading proposal development, and ensuring meaningful outcomes across NBMC's priority areas. The Director works closely with the Executive Director and internal teams to advance NBMC's strategic vision.

The Director will provide direct oversight and strategic direction for the following initiatives:

IMVisible Gender-Based Violence and Empowerment

Rural Settlement Network (RSN) including the Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) program

Imagine NB

Equity Stream

Committee Representation

The Director will represent NBMC at a number of committees and tasks forces at a provincial and federal level, as requested. These committees will focus on:

Justice, Equity, Decolonialization, Diversity, and Inclusion

Engagement with ethnocultural and equity seeking organizations

Provincial matters such as housing, education, and migrant workers

Other areas as required.

Staff Management

Supervise up to 4 FTE based on current funding agreements, with responsibility to provide oversight and management coverage for additional program staff (up to 10 FTE as required to ensure continuity of operations).

Support recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, and workload management of direct reports

Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture aligned with NBMC's equity values

Fund Development and reporting

Proposal Writing and Funder Relations

Lead the development and submission of funding proposals, this is a primary and priority function of the role

Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders and manage reporting requirements

Collaborate with program managers on ad-hoc, quarterly, and final funder reports

Support program managers and coordinators in budget oversight, in close collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.

Expertise and Areas of Focus

Experience in facilitating training and presentations in front of large groups Justice, Equity, Decolonialization, Diversity and Inclusion.

Experience in understanding the Rural realities of settlement in New Brunswick

Relationship-building with equity-seeking organizations ability to build and sustain meaningful partnerships

Relationship-building with Francophone organizations ability to build and sustain meaningful partnerships

Ability to analyze and interpret policy with the lens of a mission driven organization

Additional Responsibilities

Facilitate continuous improvement across all assigned programs

Collaborate on other emerging areas of stakeholder engagement and policy development as identified by the Executive Director

Attend and support meetings with key government and provincial partners as relevant to the program portfolio

This is a contract position until March 31, 2030, with the possibility of renewal and growth after the contracts completion.

E) Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum 5 years relevant experience (staff management, community engagement, operational support, project management, etc.).

Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Social Sciences, Business / Administration, Hospitality, and /or recognized Communications/Public Relations related studies.)

Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism and attention to detail.

Must be exceptionally organized and demonstrate superior time management skills.

Can demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.

Experience working with multi-year budgets and funder relations is a strong asset.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Experience with digital tools such as Notion, Microsoft Tools, and others an asset

Fluency in both French and English is required to be considered for this role.

F) Performance Review

There will be a formal review annually. Informal assessments will be carried out quarterly as required.

G) Salary Range

$75,000 to $80,000 / year.
