Job Overview
The Labour Relations Coordinator is responsible for providing exceptional administrative support, coordinates full cycle internal and external recruitment and is an active member of a dedicated Human Resources team that executes the Human Resources Strategic Plan.
Role
- Provide administrative and project support to the HR team; predominately focusing on continuous maintenance, integrity, and accuracy of electronic personnel files
- Facilitate all HR related purchases such as office supplies, recruitment postings, etc.
- Act as the first point of contact for hourly internal and external recruitment initiatives and conduct full cycle recruitment which includes but is not limited to posting, gathering applications, pre-screening, conduct testing and/or interviewing and award positions in accordance with any relevant collective bargaining agreements
- Manage all employee movement within a unionized and non-union environment
- Accurately prepare and present hourly employment offers to candidates and maintain all documentation throughout the hiring and onboarding process
- Remain detail orientated when assisting in the processing of new hires, promotions, transfers, and employee terminations
- Work closely with Payroll, Benefits, and Learning and Development in regards to staffing changes to provide seamless transitions for new and existing employees
- Provide a well-organized and welcoming onboarding experience
- Maintain knowledge and be current with Human Resources trends and best practices
- Deliver support to the HRIS and maintain system information, as well as generate reports as required to identify Human Resource metrics and initiatives
- Generate all Service Now tickets for hourly employment changes
- Provide administrative support and minute taking for investigations, committee meetings etc.
- Update intranet (meFirst) and maintain current policies, procedures, and documents for employees
- Provide statistical information and KPI data for departments within FCU as required
- Generate and maintain seniority lists in accordance with the collective bargaining agreements
- Be a team player who actively supports their colleagues
- Be an advocate for employee health and wellness and help ensure we meet our obligations within the OH&SA and other legislation to ensure the safety of self and others
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Required Skills
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources Management, or equivalent degree and Human Resources Management post graduate certificate
- 1 – 2 years' experience working in a Human Resources role
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and member in good standing with the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA)
- An understanding of unionized work environment and ability to work within collective bargaining agreements is considered an asset
- Have strong candidate sourcing abilities through digital and non-digital channels
- Be detail-oriented, highly organized and have the ability to multi-task
- Have the flexibility to travel within our branch network when required
- Be a team player, demonstrating a positive attitude
- Appreciate the need to work independently while supporting team members and organizational objectives
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
- Be quick to respond to requests for service from all stakeholders
- Take accountability and inherently demonstrate a high level of integrity and be trustworthy
- Demonstrate clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and FirstOntario policies and procedures
- Be proficient in MS Office
This role is a temporary contract up to 12 months. This role is hybrid at our Stoney Creek office.

Salary Range: $59,078 to $88,618 annually.
Compensation for this role reflects a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Those whose experience more closely aligns the role's requirements may be placed higher within the salary range.
