About the Role

As aClinic Lab Technician (Phlebotomist), you will play an essential role in delivering a seamless, safe, and patient-centred clinical experience. You will be responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens, coordinating with external laboratories, maintaining accurate health documentation, and supporting appointment scheduling and patient communication.

Key Responsibilities

Phlebotomy Services & Patient Care

  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and professionalism during all interactions
  • Provide clear instructions regarding procedures and post-collection care
  • Follow all clinic protocols and infection prevention procedures

Regulatory Compliance & Specimen Handling

  • Label, handle, and document specimens accurately according to clinic and laboratory protocols
  • Maintain compliance with applicable healthcare, laboratory, and privacy regulations
  • Stay informed of current standards and regulatory updates related to phlebotomy and specimen collection

Laboratory Coordination

  • Coordinate specimen pick-up and delivery with couriers and external laboratory partners
  • Communicate effectively with laboratories regarding processing and reporting timelines
  • Follow up on delayed or missing results to support continuity of patient care

Health Documentation & Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate patient records, requisitions, and electronic documentation in an EMR.
  • Ensure confidential health information is securely managed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation
  • Support scheduling, confirmations, rescheduling, and appointment cancellations
  • Communicate appointment updates and delays professionally and efficiently

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on phlebotomy experience in a clinic or outpatient setting (required)
  • Additional phlebotomy experience considered a strong asset
  • Completion of a college certificate program in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
