Position:
RWDI's Guelph Office is seeking a Senior Field Technician – Source Emissions to direct and execute complex source testing projects across various industrial sectors. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with leadership and client-facing responsibilities. You will oversee field testing programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior technicians, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data integrity. This posting represents a currently available role.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis role includes but is not limited to:
- Lead and perform on-site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).
- Plan and manage field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
- Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.
- Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.
- Train, mentor, and supervise junior field technicians and new team members.
- Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling skills equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
- Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting procedures and technologies.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.
Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseWe are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field is an asset
- A minimum of 5-years' experience working in the Air Quality Testing field
- Practical expertise In OSTC and EPA Source testing methodologies
- Strong computer and analytical technical “hands-on” skills
- An aptitude for practical problem-solving
- Field/site experience is a definite asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong people and team skills as well as being highly motivated
- An ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with no supervision
- Exceptional organizational capabilities, coordination, and consultation skills
- Willingness to travel, and work outdoors including working long hours, evenings, and weekends
- Collect samples at locations that may require working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions
