We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and fast-paced transportation company based in Burlington, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to take on a well-rounded corporate accounting role with real visibility into the business.
The Role
As Senior/Corporate Accountant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting functions of the organization. You'll work closely with senior finance leadership and have exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a dynamic, operationally complex environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of general accounting functions across the organization
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements in compliance with GAAP (ASPE) and internal policies
- Contribute to forecasting and variance analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as required
- Support daily treasury functions and cash flow forecasting
- Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Contribute to improving the efficiency and accuracy of financial close processes
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as directed by management
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central or a comparable ERP system
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- CPA designation or working toward completion is considered a strong asset
