Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Technician, the Facilities Maintenance Assistant supports the day to day operation of St. Michael's Homes through the execution of routine facility inspections, repairs, and building maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates and/or performs cleaning, refuse removal, and room setup
- Helps withpreventative maintenance and minor repairs on facilities including general repairs such as plastering, painting, flooring, repairs to windows and doors
- Handling and transporting materials around the siteand between sites
- Following instructions from supervisors to perform manual labour tasks
- Assistingskilled labourers on site
- Use of basic hand tools
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications,Skillsand Abilities
- Awareness and appreciation of clientneedsspecific to the substance use, substancedependencyand mental health field
- One (1) year of direct work experience in facilities maintenanceor construction
- First Aid, CPR, WHMIS and/or other certificates are considered assets
- Drivers License with clean abstract
- Ability to stand or walk forlong periodsof the day.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs / 23 kg
