Building Caretaker

Join Our Team as a Hybrid Caretaker!

We are seeking a dependable and professional Hybrid Caretaker to join our team at a 14-floor, 127-unit residential building located in Burnaby, East Hastings Street. In this dynamic role, you will provide a combination of caretaker and janitorial services, and building maintenance and administrative responsibilities, while responding promptly to client needs and ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Site Maintenance: Manage and supervise the site. Monitor and maintain the garbage and recycling rooms. Coordinate and supervise annual and seasonal building services and inspections.

Access & Security: Program enter-phone, fobs, and issue keys. Install/take down elevator pads for move-ins/outs.

Administrative Duties: Collect funds as directed, post notices, send emails, and submit a weekly report.

Property Manager Relations: Maintain consistent communication with the property manager to ensure the building is secure, well-maintained, and operating smoothly. Meet tradespeople and instruct on specific requests and provide feedback to PM.

Tenant Relations & Management: Respond promptly to tenant questions and requests. Report any concerning issues with tenants or residents to the property manager.

Exterior Grounds: Pick up litter around the entire exterior areas of the building, including sidewalks, courtyards, and driveway ramps.

Floor Care: Sweep and damp mop hard surface floors using a neutral cleaner.

Entrance / Lobby / Common Areas: Clean door frames, disinfect door handles, polish entry code panels, and vacuum walk-off mats.

Requirements

• Strong administrative skills

• Flexibility, availability, and the ability to address requests promptly

• Janitorial experience is an asset

• Proven experience in janitorial, caretaker, or related fields

• Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations

• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

• Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, scheduling software, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday Friday

Shift Timing: 8:00 am 4:00 pm

Start Date: June

Salary: $20 per hour (after probation period $21/h)

Preferred Experience: Building Manager/Hybrid Caretaker/Janitorial: 1 year
