THE ROLE
Position: Security Guard - Cashier Cobequid Pass Toll Plaza (Part-time opportunities)
Competition Number: CNS 2026-04-22
Location: Northern District (Great Village, NS)
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Rate of Pay: $20.81 per hour. The scale of compensation is variable and reflective of site contracts. Please note that some of our sites are unionized work environments.
Working Hours: Rotating 12 hour shifts.
Work Conditions:
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
- Flexible availability, including nights,weekendsand holidays
- Must be able and physically capable to stand or sit forlong periodsand work in various weather conditions

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Protecting people, property, and information
- Toll collections
- Classification of vehicles
- Reporting to shift and site supervisor
- Monitoring and responding to alarms and security systems
- Ensuring the health and safety in the workplace
- Adhering to CNSs Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, systems, and practices (and those of the Clients we serve)
- Respecting CNS policies, Site Work Instructions, and the Site Supervisors direction
- Other functions may include reception/administration, reporting, emergency management and access control
WHO WERE SEEKING

Skills and Experience:
- Proficiencyin basic math for toll fee calculations
- Prior experience with cash handling and operating cash registers (preferred)
- Comfortable managing cash transactions
- Strong attention to detail foraccuratecash handling, transaction processing and record keeping
- Familiarity with national roadways and local points of interest
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and reliable attendance
Basic Requirements:
- Be aged 19 or older;
- Have eligibility to work in Canada;
- Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted;
- Be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check;
- Be eligible to apply for, and attain, a Government of Canada personnel security screening.
- Have a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License, or reliable transportation to/from the worksites.
