Lemon and Oak Counseling is a new private practice that is a community-focused mental health and wellness practice located on urban reserve land in Saskatoon. We are committed to providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that supports the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of individuals, families, and the broader community.

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will provide counselling services to diverse clients, with an emphasis on culturally safe and inclusive care for Indigenous and non-Indigenous individuals and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couple, and/or family counselling services (No group services at this time).
  • Conduct client assessments, treatment planning, and progress documentation
  • Apply trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches
  • Collaborate with community partners, Elders, and support services when appropriate
  • Maintain confidential and accurate client records
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field
  • Registration in good standing with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., provincial college)
  • Experience working with Indigenous populations is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of intergenerational trauma, colonial impacts, and culturally grounded healing practices
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Assets

  • Training in specific modalities (e.g., CBT, EMDR, somatic therapies, narrative therapy)
  • Experience working in community-based or rural/remote settings
  • Knowledge of local Indigenous cultures, languages, or traditions
  • Willingness to engage with Elders and participate in cultural learning
