SITE OPERATOR

PURPOSE

A leading Alberta-based provider of low-emission hydrogen production equipment is commissioning on-site hydrogen production and dispensing units in Alberta and across North America.

We are seeking a skilled Site Operator in Edmonton to support day-to-day equipment operations and hydrogen dispensing at a second operational site.

The Site Operator will be the on-site lead responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable and efficient operation of hydrogen production and dispensing systems. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of pressure systems and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and safety.

The Site Operator will work closely with and report to the Project Manager to monitor performance, ensure compliance and support safe fuel delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily operation of the hydrogen production and dispensing system during site hours (9am–5pm, Monday–Friday), and provide fueling support outside of these hours on an as-needed basis
  • Conduct hydrogen dispensing operations in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements
  • Perform regular inspections, monitor system parameters (pressure, temperature and flow rates), and document performance data
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and control system issues
  • Ensure adherence to Alberta Safety Codes Act, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, SAE J2601/5 and site-specific operational procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to support issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain site cleanliness, security and overall operational readiness
  • Respond to and report operational anomalies, safety incidents or near misses immediately and according to company safety program requirements
  • Maintain required site recordkeeping related to dispensing operations and operational activities
  • Participate in training, commissioning activities and implementation of new procedures as systems evolve

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial or process equipment
  • Familiarity with pressure systems, control valves, regulators and thermal expansion behavior
  • Working knowledge of ASME pressure vessel standards, piping systems and Alberta Safety Codes
  • Education or certification in a related trade or technical program preferred (Power Engineering, Instrumentation, Millwright, etc.)
  • ABSA-recognized training or prior work in pressure equipment environments considered a strong asset
  • Experience with gas handling or hazardous materials is beneficial
  • Comfortable working independently and making judgment calls based on operating conditions
  • Strong attention to detail, safety-first mindset and effective communication skills
  • Ability to use digital tools for logging data, reporting issues and maintaining checklists
